GRADUATION CEREMONY

It was 10th December 2010, temperature in Delhi dropped down to 7°C. Every inhabitant was gripping in cold but Deepalaya enthusiastic girls were feeling hot.

It was the graduation day for all the 103 girls out of 133 registered girls. It was quite an experience where 22 girls from Sanjay Colony, 22 girls from Sheikh Sarai, 8 girls from Ghuspethi and 24 girls from Kalkaji came together in the sunny afternoon.

 

        

 

At 1:00 all the girls secretly congratulated each other for completing one year with the Goal program. The principal and teachers of each of the schools joined in for the celebration.

 After the brief introduction of the girls and report of last one year, the sanjay colony girls performed a play on  “Goal”, showcasing various session and events organised during  the year. 

We had Bimla Pawar, Director of Sports, in  Organising Committee of Netball during Common Wealth Games. She presided as the Chief guest for the day. The Goal team welcomed her, with appreciating her involvement in the Goal program. She made all the arrangements for exposing the Goal girls to thygraj stadium during the test event in July to Netball clinic in August and Witnessing the Common wealth Netball match in October.

 Bimla Pawar was called upon the stage to give Stipend to two Goal Champions from Deepalaya. Samar GC of the current batch, performed exceptionally well, was given the stipend. Her father shared how Samar’s personality has changed in last two years. She is not a great helping hand in household chores and balances the education and Goal at same time.

 Pinki Dass, GC of Sanjay Colony school, performed well in delivering both the netball as well as the Life skills among the girls. Her mother shared that Pinki is a great support to her and manages her time very well.

Thereafter,  Bimla Pawar gave her motivating speech for girls to continue playing sports and enroll more and more girls in the program.

 Karuna Bhatia, Corporate affairs Standard Chartered Bank, personally gave each girl of Deepalaya Kalkaji and Sanjay colony, a set of certificate and piggy bank. She shared that while shaking hands with the girls she could feel the level of confidence has increased many folds. She in her speech said that girls should continue their education and which would give them platform to reach up to various career. She also said that it is her personal commitment to see few of our Goal girls to become a banker.

   Anita Swahney, Principal Kalkaji school and Anuradha Mukherjee Programs Manager Naz India, gave away the certificates to Sheikh Sarai and Ghuspethi Goal graduating girls respectively. 

  Rushika Shekhar Volunteer on the goal program was also facilitated in front of the group, for her excellent contribution in each and every aspect of Goal delivery in last four months. SC Bank volunteer, Rama also congratulated her for her work.

 It was after the certificate distribution all the girls proceeded to witness the match between graduating girls of Sanjay colony and Kalkaji. It was a close match between the two teams where Deepalaya School Kalkaji Extension won the match. The winning team was given a rose flower each by the chief guest.

 In the end of all the 103 girls and guest relished the snacks in the warm sunny day of 10th December 2010.
