"WALK FOR BLOOD 2010"
In an
initiative to create awareness about voluntary blood donation, a walk was
organized by the
Rotary Blood Bank
on Sunday morning in Rajpath. More than 500 students of Deepalaya School
Kalkaji Extn. participated in this event. The rally was flagged off by deputy
chairman of planning commission
Montek Singh Ahluwalia.
Speaking at the occasion, Ahluwalia said, “Let all healthy adults donate blood
regularly and thus act as role models to the school children present today to
become blood donors once they turn 18. It is our social and moral obligation as
enlightened citizens."
Students of Deepalaya School Kalkaji Extn. took part in demonstrations to create awareness for the importance of donating blood. The rally saw the presence of several dignitaries including CWG gold medalists Krishna Poonia, Ashwini Ponappa and Anisa Sayyed Khan. Special guests attending the event included Nafisa Ali, Sonal Mansingh and Shibana Narayan.
“Blood donation is a selfless. By organizing 'Walk for Blood' we hope to reach out to the young generation and to inculcate among them a sense of responsibility towards fellow human beings," said Sudarshan Agarwal, chairman of Rotary Blood Bank.
